CA Discrimination Law Update

The Presenters, Attorney Richard Rosenberg and Janet Soultanian from Ballard Rosenberg Golper and Savitt, LLP, walked the attendees what we need to know to comply with the three important new employer regulations on the following subjects:

1. when and how employer may use criminal history information when evaluating job applicants and employees

2. transgender employee rights in the workplace

3. workplace harassment prevention obligations

Among the topics, they covered:

1. The criminal history information that an employer may (and may not) consider when interviewing job applicants

2. The steps employers must take before denying employment based upon criminal history

3. Employer rights and responsibilities when collecting gender information

4. Transgender employee rights: facility usage, dress code and appearance issues
